In the wild
Monkwood in the Wild
A piece is finished the day it leaves our studio and journeys to its new home — into someone's creative sanctuary, or the spaces where the people they love gather.
These are the rooms where our work lives on. Every studio gets built around one surface, and each tour below starts where the desk comes in.

Mark Hamburg Studios
SD88 + Megamouth in sun-tanned poplar // photos by Michelle Hamburg
Mark is known as the godfather of Photoshop and even has an Oscar to prove it. What people may not know is that he is also very adept at lighting design and has one hell of a guitar and pedal collection. It was a pleasure to build these pieces for Mark's dream studio. Huge thanks to his wife, Michelle Hamburg, for these awe-inspiring photos!

Wolfsbane Restaurant
A New Venture with Old Friends // photos by Maren Caruso
I first met Chef's Carrie and Rupert when they were opening their first restaurant, Lord Stanley, back in 2014. We discovered then that we lived in the same London neighborhood around the same time in the early 2000's. I built the dining tables for Lord Stanley, and they went on to have a successful run for over a decade earning their first Michelin star within the first couple years.
With Wolfsbane, we went a whole new direction. The project was led by visionary architect Seth Boor and joined by master restaurateur Tommy Halvorson. Seth, called it, "The den of a magical feral beast." We wanted Wolfsbane to feel like another would. Thanks to all the artists and craftspeople who brought this beautful project to life. And congrats to the team on your first Michelin Star!

Tori Kelly Studio
SD61 and SC10 rack cabinet in sun-tanned poplar
I got a call from producer and studio designer, Jacob Biz Morris, saying he had a special project in LA he needed a 'sweet' desk for. I didn't discover until the day of delivery who it was. I was kinda blown away.
Tori is a one of a kind artist who can sing like an angel and writer songs that touch the soul. Haverstick Designs did an amazing job making the acoustics feel like an art installation. And it sounds incredible. Thanks for including me guys!

MC88 Mothership in white oak
Rob is known for his ethereal and creative take on the modern film score. He blends genres like a DJ and brings in that Beethoven emotion at just the right moment, with instrumentation that takes the audience by surprise.
We nicknamed his custom sit-stand MC88 the Mothership because it takes his work and his audience to far-off places. We are so stoked about this project and have loved hearing the scores that are coming out of here. Check out Deadpool & Wolverine and The Whale.

VX88 studio desk + Explorer Hifi Rack in maple and walnut
Autumn reached out with a request for the first-ever VX88 in maple. It was the perfect fit for this NYC studio apartment. We later collaborated on a maple-and-walnut stand that we now call the Explorer. Thanks for challenging us to explore our creative limits, Autumn!

Mick Schultz Studios
Megalodon 1 in walnut
Mick is a producer, songwriter and sound designer (and app developer) he loves to push the boundaries of genre and sound. He called us with a request for the biggest desk we could build. Monk had already been dreaming it up in his sketchbook for two years. We're so thankful Mick was the man to help bring this vision of a classic recording console in modern form to life. The Megalodon has since become an annual event at our workshop. We are currently working on number 8!

VX88 studio desk + Megamouth 88 sidecar in walnut
Our client Moxie wanted a multipurpose sit-stand desk he could use for his business and music. This was also our first Megamouth sidecar, to house a Moog One and a sick blend of vintage and modern gear.

Megalodon 5 in apocalyptic reclaimed
Our client Milos had previously bought the first-ever apocalyptic SD88 back in 2018. In 2022, he was ready for a Megalodon in that same finish for his new Atmos studio build-out. We pulled out all the stops on this one!

Andres Torres Studio
Monk Desk Radius in walnut
We had first built a double-wide studio desk for Andres and his writing/production partner Mauricio Rengifo back in 2019. For his new home studio in Calabasas, we created a custom Radius desk that flowed with the shape of his room. He now writes and records more hits in this beautiful space.
